Introducing Katie Burroughs
Dear Farm Bureau,
My name is Katie Burroughs, and I am the Miss Calvert County Farm Bureau for 2017. I am honored to serve as the Miss for the year and I am thrilled to meet many new people and learn many new things. One of my many goals this year is to help educate the public about all the good in the agricultural industry.
Here is a brief biography of myself:
I am 18 years old. I live on a small 5-acre farm in Prince Frederick where I raise cattle, hogs, sheep, goats and chickens, all of which will be shown in 4-H. I have always had a passion for agriculture since I was young, and I enjoy teaching others about the industry every chance I get. I am a member of 4-H, Farm Bureau and the Calvert County Young Farmers. In high school, I was part of NJROTC, and FFA. I was recently hired at TractorSupply where I enjoy giving advice, and helping many farmers find the right products.
I am currently studying Criminal justice at the College of Southern Maryland- I will start my 3rd semester in the fall. Although my dream is to get a degree in agriculture, so I can have a career I will love doing.
An interesting fact about myself is that at the age of 11 I learned how to Artificially Inseminate pigs. Since then I have suc- cessfully bred over 50 litters. my most recent AI was on my sow, which will hopefully have her litter at the 2017 Maryland State Fair!
